Quantitative EEG is an assessment that measures brain activity. You neurons communicate with your body and each other through electrical signals. Every thought, feeling, and sensation you have are due to these neuron’s firing electrical signals. The EEG or electroencephalograph picks up and shows these activities the moment they happen in the brain.
An EEG not only shows the activity of the brain but it also shows how different parts of the cortex – the outer most part of the brain- are in sync with each other during those activities. This is important as it may explain many behavioral and mental disturbances that can occur. The EEG or brain map can also show areas that there is too little or too much activity which directly effects many of our everyday functions, thoughts and feelings. By mapping your brain we can see the reason for your struggles or areas that can be enhanced for better performances such as better memory, concentration and attention. Once we have the map then we can target those areas for change using Neurofeedback.
